Lekeitio Town Council live cams
The town council of Lekeitio, a fishing town on the coast of Biscay, which streams a live camera over its harbour and San Nicolás island.
Lekeitioko Udala, the town council of Lekeitio, runs a small fishing town of a little over 7,000 people on the coast of Biscay, in the Basque Country. The whole municipality covers less than 2 km² (under a square mile), squeezed between the hills and the bay where the river Lea meets the sea, with the island of San Nicolás in the middle of the bay and two beaches on either side of the river mouth.
The council streams a live camera on its YouTube channel, which carries its Basque name, with the date and time in the corner of the picture. It looks from the town centre over the harbour square and the inner harbour, full of fishing boats and yachts, to the island and the beaches across the bay. Because it is live video, it shows the boats coming and going, the tide rising and falling against the quays and the weather over the waterfront as it happens.
The council has left the stream open for embedding on other websites, which is how we show it on the Lekeitio page of this site, credited to the council with a link to its channel. If the stream stops, the page says so and suggests the nearest cameras on the Basque coast.
