Football stadium webcams in Spain

The Santiago Bernabéu, the Camp Nou, San Mamés and the Benito Villamarín, live: the stadiums from outside, the crowds on match days and the weather before kick-off.

What these cameras show

None of these cameras is inside a stadium: football clubs do not stream their pitches. They are cameras that happen to look straight at the grounds, and that is often what a travelling fan wants to know: whether the streets around the stadium are filling up, how heavy the traffic is and what the weather will be like in the stands. In Madrid and Seville they are city council traffic cameras that have the stadium in shot; in Bilbao it is a hotel camera beside San Mamés; and at the Camp Nou, a live stream from a rooftop follows the rebuilding of the stadium every day.

The grounds

The Santiago Bernabéu, home of Real Madrid on the Paseo de la Castellana, has been rebuilt with a steel skin and a retractable roof. The Camp Nou, FC Barcelona's home and the biggest stadium in Europe, is in the middle of its own rebuilding. San Mamés, Athletic Club's ground, stands on the bank of the ría in Bilbao, and the Benito Villamarín, home of Real Betis, lines the Avenida de la Palmera in Seville.

Match days

Spain is one hour ahead of the UK and Ireland, and many league games kick off in the evening, as late as 9pm local time. The streets around the grounds fill up an hour or two before the start, which is when these cameras are at their busiest. We add a stadium as soon as a camera that shows it can be shown here; for most of the other grounds in the league there is none yet.
