About Webcams Spain
Webcams Spain is an independent website for people in the UK and Ireland who want to look at a Spanish beach before they get there, or while they are counting the days. It gathers the live webcams of the Canary Islands, the Balearics and the mainland costas on one site, resort by resort, with the local time, today's weather and a forecast next to each one.
Why a site like this
Spanish beach cameras are run by hundreds of different people: town halls, marinas, hotels, surf schools, a regional broadcaster, weather enthusiasts. Each one publishes its camera in its own way, on its own page. Finding out whether the sand at Los Cristianos is busy, whether the sea at Puerto Pollensa is flat or whether it is raining in Benidorm usually means hunting through several websites. Here those cameras sit together, organised the way a holiday is planned: by island and by costa, then by resort.
What you will find on each page
Every resort has its own page with all the cameras that show it — the beach, the promenade, the harbour — and a short text for each camera that says where it is, which way it faces and what it is good for. Below them come the weather now, the next few days, sunrise and sunset, and a guide to the place written for someone coming from Britain or Ireland: when the sea is warm enough, how the wind behaves, what the light is like in winter.
How the cameras are chosen
Only cameras that their owners allow other websites to show go on this site, and every one is credited and linked to the people who run it. Each camera is looked at in daylight before it is added: if it does not show what its name promises, it stays out. A camera that stops broadcasting is marked as such and checked again automatically; the page stays, with the nearest live cameras, because people still look for that beach.
Some well-known Spanish beach cameras belong to networks that do not allow other sites to embed them. They are not here, and the pages say so rather than pretend otherwise.
Who is behind it
Webcams Spain is part of a small family of independent webcam sites run from Spain, which also covers the Canary Islands, Galicia, Costa Rica, the Caribbean and the world's volcanoes. Corrections, suggestions and new cameras are always welcome: see the contact page.
