Santiago de Compostela Cathedral live cams

The cathedral's own live broadcast from the high altar, with sound, carrying its services and the pilgrims' Masses.

The cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is the seat of the archdiocese of Santiago and the goal of every route of the Camino, built over the reputed tomb of St James the Apostle. Alongside its information for pilgrims and visitors, it broadcasts live from inside the church on its official website.

The camera stands on the right-hand side of the nave and looks into the main chapel, where the silver-clad figure of St James presides over the high altar and the Apostle's relics lie in a silver casket in the crypt below. Unlike most webcams, the broadcast carries sound, so the services, including the pilgrims' Masses held several times a day, can be followed from anywhere; between them, it shows the quiet movement of visitors around the altar.

The broadcast is offered openly on the cathedral's website. On this site it plays on the Santiago de Compostela page, credited to the cathedral with a link to its own live page, and it starts only when you press play. The cathedral website also publishes the timetable of Masses, the dates when the botafumeiro is swung and the arrangements for visits, all of which change through the year, so it is the place to check before you go.
