Hotel Calípolis live cams

Hotel Calípolis is a four-star hotel on the seafront of Sitges, on the Passeig de la Ribera, the promenade that runs behind the town's main beach. It stands on the first line facing the sea, with wide terraces looking out over the Mediterranean, a few minutes' walk from the old town and the church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla.

From high on the building, the hotel keeps a live camera trained along the coast to the east. It frames the view that has made Sitges famous: the palms of the promenade, the sand of Platja de la Ribera between its stone breakwaters, and at the far end the church on its rocky headland, with the Garraf hills behind. The hotel streams the camera through ipcamlive, a service for broadcasting IP cameras, and shows it on its own website; the same stream is embedded on this site, and its images also feed a camera on Windy, whose 24-hour time-lapse appears beside it.

It is live video, so it shows the waves arriving and the beach filling up as they happen, which makes it a good way to check Sitges' main beach from a distance. The time-lapse, by contrast, is built from still images taken through the day and is useful for seeing how the weather and the crowds changed over the day.
