Proyecto Mastral live cams
A Torrevieja weather project run by local enthusiasts, with forecasts, weather stations and live seafront cams on YouTube.
Proyecto Mastral is a weather project from Torrevieja, on the southern Costa Blanca. It describes itself as an initiative of meteorology enthusiasts who collect and share weather and climate information about the town. Its website, El tiempo en Torrevieja, publishes local forecasts, current conditions, beach information, astronomy, earthquakes and air quality, and its app gathers readings from a network of weather stations around Torrevieja and nearby towns. Members of the project have also given talks on the local climate at the University of Alicante's centre in Torrevieja.
The project's YouTube channel, active since 2010, carries weather videos, educational material and a set of live cameras. Four of them are on this site, covering the town's seafront from the centre to the north: Playa del Cura, the main town beach, seen through a wide-angle lens; the cove of Los Locos; the long beach of La Mata, filmed from high above; and the marina by the Paseo del Mar. The channel also streams the salt lagoons, which are not shown here because this site follows the coast.
All four are live video with embedding enabled. They load from YouTube only when you press play, with Proyecto Mastral credited beside the player. Because they are run by a small local team, a stream can occasionally stop or restart; when that happens, this site picks up the new broadcast from the channel automatically.
