RiadeVigoCam live cams
A Vigo website streaming the ría and Samil beach live on YouTube, with the Cíes Islands on the horizon; it also publishes to Windy.
RiadeVigoCam is a website from Vigo devoted to showing the city's ría as it is right now. Its camera stands at Samil, Vigo's main beach, and sweeps through about 180 degrees: along the curve of the sand and the promenade, across to the hills of the Morrazo peninsula on the far shore, and out down the ría to the Cíes Islands, which close its mouth and form part of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park.
The camera is streamed live, 24 hours a day, on the RiadeVigoCam YouTube channel, with the date and time and the website's name printed on the picture. The website itself, riadevigocam.com, gathers the live stream with links to sailing, surf and marine traffic information for the ría.
On this site, that YouTube stream is the live camera on the Vigo page. It uses YouTube's own player, which does not connect to YouTube until you press play. The same camera also sends its images to Windy.com, and from there comes the 24-hour time-lapse that follows the live view, useful for seeing how the light and the weather changed over the day.
It is a good camera for judging a beach day at Samil, how busy the sand is and how calm the water looks, and for checking whether the air is clear enough to see the Cíes before taking a boat out to the islands.
