SEO/BirdLife live cams

Spain's ornithological society, BirdLife International partner, which streams its Riet Vell reserve in the Ebro Delta live with sound.

SEO/BirdLife, the Sociedad Española de Ornitología, is Spain's oldest bird conservation charity, founded in 1954, and the Spanish partner of BirdLife International. It studies and monitors the country's birds with the help of thousands of volunteers, campaigns for the protection of their habitats and manages several reserves of its own.

One of them is Riet Vell, in the Ebro Delta Natural Park, south of the river near Amposta. There the society promoted an organic rice farm that grows rice in a way compatible with wildlife and restored old paddies as a freshwater lagoon with reed beds, on an old bed of the Ebro. More than a hundred bird species have been recorded there, from purple swamphens and herons to flamingos and kingfishers, and an observatory on the shore is open to visitors.

The society has used live cameras for years and broadcasts the Riet Vell lagoon on its YouTube channel, in high definition and with sound, with infrared at night. It also streams the marsh of Doñana from its Francisco Bernis bird centre, on the edge of El Rocío, on its second YouTube channel. Both streams are shown on this site, on the Ebro Delta and El Rocío pages, and the society's other cameras are on its own website.
