feratel live cams

An Austrian company running more than 1,000 panoramic webcams in Europe, including one over Cambrils harbour.

feratel media technologies AG is a company based in Innsbruck, Austria, that installs and runs panoramic webcams for tourist boards, ski resorts, towns and hotels. Its feratelPanorama service shows more than 1,000 live panoramas, most of them in the Alps, and it covers Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Andorra, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Belgium, San Marino and Greenland as well as Spain, where Cambrils is one of its cameras.

A feratel camera works differently from most webcams. Instead of staring at one fixed scene, it turns slowly on its mount and films a sweeping panorama, which is shown as a short high-definition clip together with the current weather. The player is designed to be embedded by the places that commission the cameras, so the same view appears on their own websites.

In Cambrils, the camera stands above the harbour and pans from the beach beside the port, across the seafront road and the promenade, to the marina full of yachts. feratel describes it as a live view of the harbour area, the promenade and the Mediterranean. Its images also feed a camera on Windy, whose 24-hour time-lapse appears alongside it on this site. Because each clip covers such a wide arc, a single feratel camera can do the work of several fixed ones.
