What you can see on the Tenerife North Airport webcam

Tenerife North Airport webcam: the runway at Los Rodeos
This camera looks across the runway of Tenerife North, Los Rodeos, from beyond the perimeter fence. A road runs past in the foreground; behind the grass and the runway are the control tower, the terminal and the parked aircraft, with a green, rounded hill rising on the right.
The airport sits on a plateau at about 630 m, and the camera shows how often cloud and mist roll over it from the north, even when the south of the island is in sunshine. This is Tenerife North: most flights from the UK land at Tenerife South, on the other side of the island.
Cloud and the 1977 disaster
At about 630 m (2,070 ft), Los Rodeos is often wrapped in cloud brought in by the trade wind while the south of Tenerife is in sunshine. In 1977 that fog played its part in the deadliest accident in aviation history, when two jumbo jets collided on the runway; it was one of the reasons Tenerife South, in the dry south of the island, opened the following year.
Time and weather
Tenerife is on the same time as the UK and Ireland all year. The camera is a good guide to the north of the island, Puerto de la Cruz, La Laguna and Santa Cruz, which are often cloudier and greener than the resorts in the south.
