The Galician regional weather service, whose coastal and mountain stations take a time-stamped still photo every few minutes.
MeteoGalicia is the regional weather service of Galicia, part of the environment department of the Xunta de Galicia, the regional government. It was set up in 2000 through an agreement between the Xunta and the University of Santiago de Compostela, and it prepares Galicia's official weather forecasts and runs the regional network of weather and climate stations. Since 2001 it has also produced marine forecasts, with wave, wind and sea-state predictions for the Galician coast.
Many of its stations, on the coast and in the mountains, have a camera beside the instruments. Each takes a still photograph every few minutes and stamps it with the name of the station, the date and the time, so you can always tell how recent the picture is. MeteoGalicia allows its images to be reused freely as long as MeteoGalicia and the Xunta's environment department are credited as the source.
On this site, MeteoGalicia provides the view along the harbour breakwater in A Coruña and the seafront path by the bay in Baiona. Unlike video, a still image loads instantly even on a weak mobile connection, and the time stamp in the corner makes it a dependable check on the weather: if the picture is a few minutes old, that is what the coast looks like now. Each image here is credited to MeteoGalicia with a link to its camera page.
