What you can see on the Fuerteventura Airport webcam
The camera looks across the runway from the side, past the edge lights and the fence, to the terminal, the parked aircraft and Puerto del Rosario behind. Planes cross the picture as they land and take off, and a caption in the corner says what is happening.
Fuerteventura Airport webcam: the runway, live
This camera looks across the runway of Fuerteventura Airport from the side. In the foreground are the edge lights and the perimeter fence; across the tarmac lie the taxiways, the terminal and parked aircraft, and behind them the low white town of Puerto del Rosario climbs towards the brown hills of the interior.
Planes cross the picture from side to side as they land and take off, and a caption in the corner says what is happening on the runway. In the bright light of the island the long, flat view also shows how clear or hazy the day is.
The airport
There is one long runway running along the coast. As on the other Canary Islands, the trade wind usually blows from the north, and the planes land and take off into it. Flights come from airports all over the UK and Ireland, most of all through the winter.
Time and weather
Fuerteventura is on the same time as the UK and Ireland all year. It is the windiest and one of the driest of the islands, and on hazy days the hills behind the town fade into calima, the dust blown over from Africa.
Getting from the airport
Caleta de Fuste is the nearest resort, about 4 miles (7 km) to the south. Corralejo, in the north, is about 25 miles (40 km) away, and Costa Calma and Morro Jable, in the south, about an hour and an hour and a half by road.
