Camp de Mar, officially Es Camp de Mar, is a small, quiet resort in the municipality of Andratx, on Majorca's south-west coast between Peguera and Port d'Andratx. It is built around a sheltered beach at the head of a bay ringed by pine-covered hills, with a rocky islet just offshore that has become its trademark.

What you can see on the Camp de Mar webcams

From the beach, the view runs along the sand and its rows of sunbeds to the islet and the wooden footbridge that links it to the shore, with the hotels on one side and the hills on the other. A second view looks out from the rocks at the water's edge across the bay to the wooded headland opposite. Between them you can see how full the beach is, how clear and calm the water looks and how the light changes through the day.

Camp de Mar beach webcam, with the islet and footbridge

Set at the back of the beach among the trees, this camera looks west along the sand of Camp de Mar. Rows of blue sunbeds and straw parasols run along the right of the picture below the hotels; on the left the bay stretches away to the islet with its restaurant, joined to the shore by a long wooden footbridge, and behind it the hills that close the bay.

It faces into the afternoon sun, so from mid-afternoon the water turns to a sheet of glare and the hills become silhouettes; the morning is the time to see the colour of the water and the bottom through the shallows. Any time of day it shows how full the beach is and whether the water lapping at the sand is flat or choppy.

The sea at Camp de Mar from the rocks

This camera stands just above the water at Playa Roca, a rocky bathing spot on the shore of Camp de Mar, and looks out across the bay. Flat ledges of rock run into the sea in the foreground, a palm and the roof of a terrace frame the right side, and the far side of the bay is a steep, wooded headland rising to a rounded summit.

There is no sand in the picture: this is the view for the sea itself. Watch how the surface catches the wind, whether small waves break over the ledges and how many boats are out. In the late afternoon it looks straight into the sun and the bay becomes a bright path of light; in the morning, with the sun behind it, the water shows its true colour.

A beach with an island restaurant

The beach is only about 180 metres (590 ft) long, which is part of its charm: it never feels like a big resort. The islet a few metres out is almost entirely taken up by a restaurant, reached on foot along the footbridge, and it is the picture everyone takes home from Camp de Mar. The resort itself is young: its first big hotel was built in the early 1930s, and most of the villas, hotels and the golf course in the valley behind followed from the 1980s onwards.

When to watch Camp de Mar

Majorca runs one hour ahead of the UK and Ireland. The beach cameras look towards the west, into the afternoon sun, so the morning gives the clearest, most colourful pictures of the water, while the late afternoon brings glare and then the sunset behind the hills. In high summer the beach fills by late morning; outside the season it is often almost empty.

Around Camp de Mar

The headland of Cap Andritxol, to the south, has a footpath out to an old watchtower with views along the coast. Port d'Andratx, with its harbour and seafront restaurants, is about 3 miles (5 km) away by road, and Peguera's longer beaches are a short drive east. Golfers have a course, opened in 1999, in the valley right behind the village.

Visiting Camp de Mar

Palma airport is about 28 miles (45 km) away by motorway. The beach is small and sheltered, with calm, shallow water on most days, which suits families with young children. A second, smaller beach, Platja de ses Dones, lies a short walk along the shore to the west.
