What you can see on the Port del Comte webcams

One camera stands at the Querol viewpoint, near the top of the resort, and looks across a terrace to a lift station and the pines, with the long, bare ridge of the Port del Comte massif behind. It plays as a time-lapse of the day, so you can see how the cloud came and went. The other, a weather camera of 3Cat at about 1,800 m (5,900 ft), looks over the base area, its apartment buildings and an open slope, to a line of rocky mountains on the horizon, with the temperature and humidity beside each photo. In winter they show the snow at the top and the bottom of the resort; in summer, the pine forest and the high pastures.

Port del Comte webcam at the Querol viewpoint

This camera stands at the Mirador de Querol, a viewpoint at the top of Port del Comte, and looks across a paved terrace to the lift station and a band of pines, with the long, bare ridge of the Port del Comte massif beyond and other ranges of the pre-Pyrenees behind.

It is the camera for the upper part of the resort: whether the ridge is clear or the cloud is down. It is shown here as a Windy time-lapse of the day.

The base of Port del Comte, with the weather

This 3Cat weather camera, at about 1,800 m (5,900 ft), looks over the bottom of Port del Comte: the apartment buildings of the base on the left, an open slope with a lift cable crossing the picture, pines on the right and a line of rocky mountains on the horizon.

It shows the snow at the bottom of the resort and how busy the base area is, and 3Cat adds the temperature and humidity beside each photo.

Skiing through the pines

Port del Comte opened in 1973 in the massif of the same name, in the municipality of La Coma i la Pedra. Its base is at about 1,700 m (5,580 ft), and most of its runs wind through a thick pine forest, which shelters them from the wind and keeps the snow. The resort benefits most from easterly storms off the Mediterranean. In summer, paragliders launch from El Querol over the valley, with a drop of about 1,250 m (4,100 ft) to Sant Llorenç de Morunys.

When to watch Port del Comte

Spain is one hour ahead of the UK and Ireland. The ski season usually runs from December to Easter, depending on the snow. Mornings are usually clearest; the top camera shows whether the ridge is in cloud.

Around Port del Comte

Sant Llorenç de Morunys, a small town at the head of the Vall de Lord, lies below the resort, beside the reservoir of La Llosa del Cavall. Solsona, with its cathedral and old town, is less than an hour away.

Getting to Port del Comte

The nearest airport with flights from the UK and Ireland is Barcelona, about 90 miles (145 km) away by road, roughly two hours' drive. The last part is a mountain road above Sant Llorenç de Morunys: in winter, carry snow chains.
