Windy.com live cams

Windy.com is a weather website, best known for its animated maps of wind, waves, rain and cloud. It also hosts a large collection of webcams from around the world, uploaded by the people who run them: town councils, hotels and apartment blocks, surf schools, sailing businesses and private owners who put a camera on their balcony or roof.

For every camera Windy keeps the latest picture and a time-lapse of the last 24 hours, and some cameras also stream live video through Windy's own player. On this site that means two kinds of Windy camera. Where Windy has live video and the owner does not offer a player of their own, the camera appears live, with its 24-hour time-lapse as a separate entry just below. Where Windy only has still pictures, you see the time-lapse, which is ideal for checking how the sky and the sea have changed since the morning.

We always look for the owner first. When a hotel, a surf school or a dive centre streams the same view with its own player, theirs goes first and Windy's time-lapse follows it, as at Playa Paraíso in Tenerife or La Pared in Fuerteventura. Windy fills the gaps: the bay at Morro Jable, the Tostón tower at El Cotillo or the Las Américas shore by Los Cristianos reach this site only through it.

Windy's terms ask for a link back to its website, which sits beside each player. The cameras still belong to their owners, and Windy's page for each one shows its full history.
